Support for Organizational Vision Development in Major B2B Enterprises

Research Overview

In a leading domestic B2B solutions service provider, a major reorganization was carried out within the division responsible for downstream processes, primarily maintenance and operations. This research clarified the strengths, characteristics, and challenges of the reorganized division from the perspective of the employees, providing insights for sharp long-term business strategy development.

Research Methodology

In-depth interviews with employees of the client and its affiliated companies.

  • Participants : A total of 20 employees from five divisions related to maintenance and operations (including affiliated companies).
  • Method : One-on-one depth interviews conducted by ethnographers from ideafund.
Some interviews were conducted online upon request due to the nationwide presence of the company.

Research Findings

  • Identified strengths not only at the company and division levels but also at the individual level, delving into their sources and how they are generated.
  • Revealed that employees in different roles within the organization have varying perspectives and awareness on the same themes, which were articulated in the findings.
  • Highlighted differences in perspectives on the roles of divisions and inter-divisional relationships due to differences in the original parent organizations before the reorganization.

Key Points and Outcomes

  • In large organizations like the client company, the complexity and size of internal relationships often make it difficult for the overall intentions of the company to fully permeate the members or vice versa. Through dialogues with ethnographers, the genuine narratives from the micro perspectives of each staff member provide not only new insights into previously unclear aspects of the company but also contribute significantly to business advancement with an in-depth understanding of the members’ realities.
  • Given the aging workforce in the target organization, this research offers foundational understanding for themes like knowledge and skill transfer and fostering of mindset and culture, which are anticipated as the organization rejuvenates in the future.
  • During the interviews, participants were asked to depict the changes in their sense of fulfillment since joining the company using worksheets. By quantitatively expressing events that impacted their fulfillment in terms of psychological impact, various elements were illustrated from multiple viewpoints. This visualization of impact facilitated participants’ introspective understanding, enabling deeper communication.
